Introduction to CIL’s Enrichment Program – September 20th 2015

Introduction to CIL’s Upcoming Three Year East Coast Professional Enrichment Program

September 20, 2015

South Salem, New York

This is a great opportunity for those who are new to CIL to become familiar with its teachers, Alexis and Judith, and to have a taste of learning with us.  It is also a wonderful time for old friends of CIL to come and gather with one another.

Co-founders Alexis Johnson, PhD., and Judith Sarah Schmidt, PhD., will each present, and spend the last part of the afternoon answering questions about the upcoming three- year program. The new Program will begin in November in the Westchester area.  You can learn more about it by going to:

The Mother’s Face: Roots of Faith

Judith Sarah Schmidt, PhD

The first mirror a child knows is the face of its mother. This mirror – through its smiles and moods, its eyes and its sounds – opens for the infant what the world is and will be like. The infant’s cellular being, its very breath, unfolds or closes in this co-created relational field. In ways that the child is met with joy and appreciation, she will root a sense of safety and faith in the goodness of life. In ways that the infant’s essence is not met, not mirrored, the child will root anxiety and doubt at the ground of its being.  We will use lecture and guided imagery to explore how our first love maps are inscribed upon body and soul.

Attachment Style: Basis of Spiritual Journey

Alexis Johnson, PhD

Each of us is born into dependence. During these early years, we co-create an attachment style – secure or insecure. Whatever it is, it forms the template for our relationship to our self, to our intimate others and to transpersonal realms. We grow up with an unspoken, unconscious set of rules of ‘how to do it’ – ‘it’ being how to do relationships in general, and in particular how love should look and feel. We will use lecture and dynamic family sculpture to explore attachment style.
